I Almost Forgot, Daryl went to Camp!

Before I left for Colorado, Daryl and I went to Rock Springs 4-H Camp! I didn't know what the code of conduct was for this year. Last year I wasn't to talk to him, or look in his direction. He didn't want anyone to know his mom was at camp.

I go to camp the day before campers and spend time training the counselors. So when buses arrived the next day I had already planned to give Daryl a wide berth. If he wanted the "get away from Mom and Dad," camp experience, I was going to try and give it to him.

When I passed his group walking to the pool I looked away. I don't know what caused his change of heart but he yelled at me, "MOOOM aren't you going to say HI!" So I did and I gave him a high five. I heard him tell everyone that I was one of the people, "running camp." :-) A day later anytime I passed his group they would all yell, "Hi Mom!" That made me smile and really made my camp that much better this year.

Next year BOTH BOYS will go to camp! Alex was telling anyone who would listen when they were dropping Daryl off at the bus to camp, "I'm going to camp Next Year!" I'm looking forward to Oz-Some 4-H camp 2019, I hope they are ready for the entire manor. (Well, we won't take purl.)

KP with his friend Shaina!

He wore his counselors hat because he didn't have one, so I made sure to
show him the one I packed in his bag when we got home!

He wanted to be seen with mom this year!

RIP Purple Chucks. First day of camp my five year old shoes gave out.

On Friday he got a new bike, because Alex took over his old bike.
He is pretty happy with the deal!

Mountains!

I have vacationed in Colorado before, but did not bike, hike, raft or camp! Turns out those are the best reasons to go visit mountains. After hearing about all of Jeff's Colorado adventures I wanted to try them all, and we got close!

So more thoughts and lots of pictures:

I was really excited about camping, turns out I'm scared of bears. Didn't see one but was still a nervous trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night!

I might be a better mountain biker than I thought. After our last day riding in Crested Butte, my wheel was totally pointing to the left when it should have been pointing straight. Don’t know how long it was like that but could have explained some difficulties I was having.

Ground hogs are not good at crossing the street. RIP poor groundhog...

I get really excited when I see chipmunks!

The most important part of biking or hiking mountains is the snack you bring for your snack break!

The people that you meet also exploring mountains are great!

If you spend three plus hours doing anything outdoors, you deserve a craft beer! (or margarita)

Hot Springs are hotter than you think....

Knowing your left from your right is very important when being the copilot of the car and when rafting a river.

Biking on a Crested Butte Trail!
Princess Penelope getting new pedals. A much needed upgrade!

Camping!!

It was a little cold....probably got down to 35 degrees. Brrr

I couldn't get over the flowers in Colorado.

Alien Hut!

A great way to end my vacation! Back to reality!!

I am not getting paid for this post!

To fight summer learning loss I decided to get the boys some workbooks for summer. I didn't really know what to expect when I ordered the brain quest summer learning workbooks. They are pretty cool! Each page the boys finish they get to put a sticker on their map. There are 100 lessons and the books are created by teachers. Alex is working on the K to 1 book and Daryl is tackling the 3 to 4 book. Alex has about 20 pages done in two days!! Daryl's pages are a little harder, his first lesson was rewrite sentences to make them complete. So he is not moving so fast; at least he is trying. If you can motivate your kids with a sticker map, I 100% recommend them!

On Saturday, mom and I went to my Uncle and Aunt's 45th wedding anniversary party. It was so much fun to see so much family! Great company, food, sangria and cake! I think their daughters should probably celebrate their 46th anniversary too!  LOL

It has been a full weekend, and next week I leave for 4-H camp! I'm praying for a cool breeze and less mosquito bites than I had last year!! Let's do this. :-)

His map will be done in no time!

I'm mom's taxi!

The happy couple!

First day of camp!

Yesterday the boys had their first day at Back to Nature Day Camp! Alberto has never been to day camp before so he was practically bouncing in the backseat on our way. That is when Daryl, slightly annoyed he was not going to be able to watch TV all day, said "I don't think you understand how rigorous our schedule is going to be."

Alex-"What's rigorous?"

Oh my gosh, Daryl's vocabulary cracks me up!

Mom picked them up at the end of the day and Daryl was sweet to his little brother. They are not in the same group, so they don't see each other all day. But at the pool the water was a little cold and Alex was sitting in the chairs by himself. So, Daryl got out and sat with him for the rest of pool time. Made Alex's day! When I asked Alex about it he just got a huge smile on his face.

Mark the calendar on June 4th, 2018, my boys were nice to each other!!!

After being gone for a week, last weekend we enjoyed
bike rides, movies and shopping! I know they need haircuts
but I love their hair like this!
