2019 Goals Check In

Month two down, so let's check on those 2019 goals! It was hard to get started this month on reading and running after focusing so hard in January. I did get some stuff done and hit my miles goal for the month. I won't wait five days to start running in March. It was hard to catch up after doing that!

Read 10 Books: 3
I had two books from Jan. In Feb I added:
You Are a Badass by Sincero. The title got a giggle from both boys while I was reading it. It was a little too Zen for my taste, but did have some good points on positive thinking. So I've been practicing that!

Knit 4 Things (and no new yarn!): 1
Still at one. Didn't get anything completed this month. I'm making my own pattern for a hat and when it was almost done it wasn't right. So I ripped it back a little last night and am trying to fix it. Should mean I have one thing knit in March!

Run 400 Miles: 84
Whoop Whoop! I added 39 miles in Feb. My goal was 36 so I'm very happy with my miles. Even after my slow start!

Five House Projects:
Stairs (Completed: 0/00 )
Porch (Completed: 0/00 )
Dishwasher (Completed: 2/23 )
Water Heater (Completed: 2/15 )
Refinish Door (Completed: 0/00 )

Yay! I got some house projects knocked off the list! The Dishwasher has been purchased but not installed yet. I'm sure that will warrant it's own post. I've been salty every time I have done dished since I bought it this weekend. Grrrrr

Tell me friends what goals are you making progress on?

On Saturday the boys had their last Upward Basketball games for the season. Action photographer, I am not! LOL

4-H Club Days

On Saturday Daryl and Alex participated in County Club Days. We had to adjust what Daryl signed up for this year because of basketball. So he didn't do a historical speech he opted for Impromptu. It was his first year trying this event and I was very proud of him. He got a red ribbon but I think that was mostly because his speech was 48 seconds long. :-)

Alex did his second year of Show and Share. He was a lot more confident this year! He showed off a woodworking project that he did at the Kansas Discovery Center. He spoke loud enough that the judge could hear him and answered all her questions. Way to go Alberto!

On Sunday Daryl went with me to the beef weigh in. It was cold but he really wanted to go. He didn't complain but did ask if we were almost done a few times! LOL

Stood out in the cold for two hours while I wrote down weights.
He said he is ready to do it again next year!

This little guy has come a long way in a year!

New Art

I have to make a post about my newest piece of art. When I bought my new house Jefferson said he almost bought me an Alpaca painting for a house warming gift. I got really excited about that and I think I bugged him a few times about painting me one.

He started my painting in November and I'm pretty sure he thought I was crazy when I said I wanted him to wear a bow tie. I might be crazy BUT he looks awesome with his bow tie! It's a masterpiece, and my second original painting. My first is my picture of Purl, also painted by Jefferson!

I give you Picchu! Named after the Peru
destination of  Machu Picchu.

I thought this was great, I had no idea how much work
there was to be done!

Picchu Outline. Thank you Jefferson!
He is perfect! And you can't keep him!

Reminds Me of Me

Not too much exciting happening lately. The boys have been going to school, when it's not cancelled. I've been working on upcoming events, and purl has been loafing. The boys are still having a good time playing basketball and have two Saturdays left of games. They have shown a bunch of improvement. I like being a sports mom, and I will be ready for warm days, watching baseball games!

It was super bowl Sunday when we had one really warm day in the middle of our freezing temps. It was in the 60s and everyone was outside playing and soaking it up. I was in the house cooking for the game when my doorbell rang. I forget I even have one because I don't have many guests.

I go to the door and there are two grade school girls standing on the porch, each with a grocery sack. They asked me if I had kids, I said I do but they aren't home right now. Then they said that is ok because they were selling toys for $1. I was so happy that I had a dollar in my purse. I looked through the toys and picked out a puzzle.

They were really happy as they added it to the one dollar they already had. They skipped away. This made me smile because I remember selling rocks to neighbors in Hanston and when I was older offering to pick up sticks and rake leaves. I was a little entrepreneur and my neighbors always humored me. I was so happy to return the favor to two future business women! :-)

Alex never asked where the puzzle came from but he did it. He was so happy with himself he had me take a picture of it. That is a Win Win!
