2018 Fair ✔

As of 6 pm this evening the Shawnee County Fair was cleaned up and done! Yay, number 6 as 4-H Agent is in the books! I'm pretty tired, as I'm sure many 4-H peeps are right now! So, tonight I will give you mostly pictures and one funny story.

This didn't even happen at the fair! I was at Dillons at 8 am this morning to get candy for our Sr. Recognition. I had planned to get sour patch kids because the ceremony of saying goodbye to my seniors is sweet and sour! There was none on the shelf. So I was just staring at the boxes of candy. I have no idea how long I was looking when a very nice Dillons workers, with a lot of concern in her eyes, asks me "Are you OK?" Not "how may I help you," or "are you finding everything OK?" No, I must have looked so ragged she asked if I was OK!! LOL

So glad fair is done!

Happy Birthday Alex!

For the first time ever, Alex got his own birthday party! I have been crafty the first five years of his life and made him share a birthday party with Daryl. Their birthdays are one month apart, so we picked a day in the middle.

This year he specifically asked for 1.) His own Party, 2.) At Going Bonkers, 3.) With his friends 4.) and white cake.

That guy is funny. I always order him chocolate cake because that's what I like. He made sure at every point in party planning he was getting a white cake! He got to approve the guest list but I did cap him at 10 friends!

He had so much fun and I thank all the parents who tolerated bonkers to bring their kids out. Now it's time for Fair, Fair, and Fair!

July is Crazypants!

So there are two reasons if I am not posting on the blog. Reason #1 is nothing is going on, reason #2 is all the things are going on. July has been an all the things month.

The boys have been going to day camp, working on 4-H projects, riding bikes and we are trying to get to the pool more than we did last summer. It seems like we are all ready for bed every night at 8pm. This last weekend Daryl finished all of his outfits for modeling this Friday, so he is set. Alex has been done with his projects since he painted his Angry Bird!

On Monday I was getting ready and everyone else was still in bed. I was in my room fixing my hair when Alex stumbles in. I told him good morning and then he left my room again. He came back fully dressed and asked if I would turn on the news! He gets that from Daryl because when I told him Nature Cat was on, he changed his mind about what he wanted to watch. :-)

I made the boys' lunches for day camp and told Alex he was in charge when I left for work. When Grandma got up, Alex relayed that the lunches were in the fridge and he was in charge! That kid cracks me up!

Looking forward to a lot of fair fun for the next 10 days!

A Couple of Picassos!

I apologize in advance, but probably all of my July posts will be 4-H Fair related. No matter how prepared we try to be, we are always working on most of our fair entries in July. Oops!

Last Sunday, we took advantage of family day at Paint Therapy Uncorked and the boys tried their hand at art! Daryl had big plans, and I don't paint. But, we know someone who does! So Jeff came along to help Daryl find his inner Bob Ross. It worked for about 45 minutes, then Daryl was done.

I was so surprised by Alex. Painting was Daryl's idea and Alex just got drug along. He loved it! He picked his picture and focused the entire time. The helper lady put the bird on his canvas with pencil and he worked so hard to stay in the lines. He was so happy with it and wants to go back immediately!

Had a great 4th yesterday. Again, this year we enjoyed hanging out with Jaime and Ben for all the Potwin festivities. One of our favorites is the show put on by the Topeka High Drum line. Then we took a nap and headed out to do fireworks at the Hahn's. We all had so much fun! We will call July 4, 2018 a success. There were not even any tears when we left this year, and Alex was asleep by the time we left the driveway. That is an improvement over last year!

Look at that concentration!

We started with a beach scene, but ended with a desert. LOL
