DFW Fiber Fest!

I admit, there have not been that many posts this month. That is because I spent the entire month being super focused on the budget so I could go to the Dallas Fort Worth Fiber Fest and have a really great time. I did!
This weekend trip with girlfriends was exactly what the doctor ordered. I had been in a knitting rut having just finished a big project. I didn't have the urge to cast on anything. That has been fixed! I now what to knit ALL OF THE THINGS!
On this trip I also got to meet the Mother of All Knitting Blogs, The Yarn Harlot! My friend Karen scored our group tickets to hear her speak and it was AMAZING. She is funny, smart and humble. She has accomplished so much and when a stranger asks her what she does she says, "I'm a writer" when he asks if she has been published she says, "I do all right."
A humble person doesn't do well with gushing fans that want a picture with them but she does it anyway. And I THANK HER for doing it!!
I could write forever about the yarn, the food in Dallas, and the girlfriend chat times that were needed and had. But I'll just leave some pictures. :-)
PS-Today is the end of the month and even with my little trip and a half hog we are going to make our snowball goal! I feel a little smug right now. OK, the pictures!

My Zuzu petals shawl I knit during Yarn Harlot!

Thank you Stephanie for humoring me with a picture! PS-Click the photo and see if you can read the message on the bag she signed. LOL

When you are not driving you can have a large adult beverage after a hard day of knitting!

My goodies at home. A project bag, a shawl pin and not pictured is a skein of sock yarn and a fiber batt. I controlled myself and my money very well on this trip!

Doing what I have to!

Last week was a little hectic at the Manor. Kelly was gone all week for work so I was on single mom duty. We had a pretty great week and the boys were really well behaved for me. Daryl was a big helper and Alex slept through the night every night!
I even managed to get the dishes done and cook dinner three out of the six nights. Because of a goulash debacle I didn't have to cook every night. Did you know one pound of macaroni looks really small dry but cooked is another story! I had to use three different Rubbermaid containers for all of the leftovers! If you want to stretch a pound of ground sausage mix it with a pound of macaroni!
I think my biggest success while Kel was away was still getting in three runs. My training is still on track for my May half!
Once our family was whole again I immediately blocked my new sweater. It grew in length when I gave it a bath but I still like it!
Now I've switched back over to spinning and am trying to think of a good road trip knitting project to start. Because I'm going on a road trip this weekend!! More details to come on that. :-)

Catching Up

It doesn't seem like it has been over a week since my last blog post, but the dates don't lie! I have been busy entertaining the boys during this whack a doodle weather. One day we are playing inside because it is FREEZING outside the next day we are looking for shorts because it is actually in the 70s! All I have to say is this is Kansas and that is how we do end of winter/spring.

I worked most of Saturday so on Sunday the boys and I had a fun day! First Daryl and I baked cookies. This led to the never ending fight of make a nice face so I can take your picture! These are only 3 of the 15 pictures I snapped of me trying to get a smile. He was actually very happy with his oatmeal cookies he just loves this game!

After cookies, we went to Going Bonkers! This is the boys' favorite place because they get to run around, make as much noise as they want, and climb all over stuff. Basically a boys dream come true! I had to snap this picture of Alex coming off the slide because he looks so different than he did just a couple of months ago. He is starting to loose some of his baby chub and he is starting to say more words. He is really growing up!

Believe it or not but the green cardigan is all knit! I still need to weave in the ends and block it but so far so good. I wanted to wear it last Saturday to a 4-H function but a couple days overdue is not bad for me with knitting! I will post a picture on the next blog. Happy St. Patrick's day everyone!!!

One sleeve short

I am one sleeve short of a sweater. No worries, I'm working on it. The only problem is next week we are supposed to have weather in the 70s. This can put a damper on sweater knitting really fast. So I will work quickly!
Daryl had story time at his school last Friday. All the kids went back to the school for a supper of pancakes and sausage in their pajamas. Then the teachers read them books. It was really cute! Can you tell we read to Daryl at bedtime?
