Easter trip and Yarn!

It has been a fun couple of weeks. With Alex crawling and Daryl starting at a new daycare we have been trying to find a new routine! Luckily, Daryl has taken to the change really well and is getting to do some new fun stuff too.
He has really been my little helper lately. After I finished spinning my HY Heirloom yarn I was dragging my feet on washing it as well as the brown/blue hand spun. Daryl decided he wanted to help me wash the yarn and that was all the motivation I needed.
He has seen me do it several times but this was the first time he did it too! He moved the yarn from hot water to cold, then he got to wack it to set the twist. It was a cold day when we did it but cold does not bother a four year old at all! I thought he would tangle the yarn badly but turns out, if you tie it up good enough even a little guy can't mess it up! Passing the love of yarn making!

This last weekend we spent it in Southwest Kansas with Grandma Rosie. As usual Alex did awesome on the way there, then cried most of the way back. If I remember right it gets better once you can flip their car seat around. We don't have long before that can happen.
Even though it snowed while we were there it was a great trip. When we were pulling out of mom's work Daryl said "I already miss my grandma!" He loves these trips. Since we were snowed it we got to play a little dress up with my old recital outfits. LOL this can be used for blackmail some day!

I love the camo jammies under the tutu!

Uh Oh

Watch out folks, we have mobility! If the video doesn't pop up here is the youtube link http://youtu.be/Es6Q55t33Ns

I have been busy this last week so I have a little excuse for neglecting the blog. Mostly this darn time change has kicked my butt. For once Daryl adjusted very well but Alex is all out of sorts. I can't even drag myself out of bed. I used to get up early...what happened to me?

I am on the finishing theme...or I was. Well, while it lasted I made one sleeve. Isn't she lovely?
I'm having second sleeve syndrome...meaning I don't want to make the other one. So while the hope is to wear this cardigan this spring...the sleeve that doesn't want to be knit is not cooperating. Then after I knit that I have to make a button band. It never ends with some projects. So I will just play with my wheel!
I finished as much of my brown/turquoise braid as I'm going to right now. This lovely pile of wool just needs a bath.
The reason I'm not spinning more of that braid (this is about half of it) is because this lovely braid of Hello Yarn came in the mail about a month ago.
I've tried to ignore it but it wants to jump on my wheel NOW. So I'm going to oblige. I'm going to spin with a plan for the first time ever. I split the braid in half and am going to try and match up the colors when I do a two ply. We shall see what happens!

I will just keep finishing stuff in March...

I had originally planned on finishing some much neglected projects in February. Turns out that is not a good plan for the shortest month of the year. I did finish my gigantic shawl, YAY! But I still need to spin the yarn for the boys' sweaters and finish a cardigan I started in 2011. So I will carry on the finishing into March.
My Finish List:
Boys' Yarn
Que Sera Cardigan
Milo dress for a little girl a few states away

If I can get all that done in March, I'm a rock star! I think I will have also earned another Wollmeise lace. I will get a good start as I will be in a hotel a bit in March. While I miss my boys like crazy I sure do get a lot of crafting done. :-)

This weekend I got to watch kids work with their horses and learn about livestock judging. Daryl had so much fun at the horse clinic today and he even got to ride on a pony! His smile was priceless and just another perk of my job!
First Sleeve

Daryl on a pony, he is so thrilled!
