Snow Daze

We are finally having winter in North East Kansas! I am not going to complain for two reasons:
1.) We need the moisture
2.)Why bother to knit sweaters if it never gets cold enough to wear them
a.) On that note, I think my fans would like to know Kelly Meerpohl has never wore the sweater it took me two years to knit him. Feel free to drop him an encouraging word in the comments!

Daryl is really loves playing in the white stuff. He already LOVES when school is cancelled for snow.
Along with a couple of snow days he also got to go to the circus last weekend. He is pretty much floating on cloud nine with all this fun stuff.
Since February is for Finishing I'm focusing on just that! I finished my Nuvem shawl so I'm dusting off an old project. It is a lacy cardigan I started in May of 2011! All it needs are sleeves, the body is completely knit.
Yesterday I cast on the first sleeve and I think I can finish it in a week. Technically it will be done in March but that will be just in time for coldish March/April weather. If it still fits! That's the problem when you knit on a garment for years, sometimes the person changes size.
Still spinning for the boys' birthday sweaters because nothing says love like a hand knit sweater in July! I'm probably going to be features in Awkward Family Photos one day with a slide show of all the hand knit sweaters. Oh well, I love it!

Don't forget to ask Kelly about his hand knit sweater next time you see him. Or write on his facebook. Or call him!

It's done!

On Alex's seven month day I finished the Nuvem. That is funny because I was going to make it on my four week maternity leave! Daryl is being used for scale! Glad I will have something warm to wrap up in for the impending blizzard!

February is for Finishing!

Guess what this is...
That is my nuvem being bound off! I'm not even a quarter done with the bind off row but I'm super excited!
Last night Daryl got to pick a movie to watch with the whole family. It was his reward for some pretty awesome behavior recently. He picked Kung Fu Panda 2. At first I was indifferent but it was actually a pretty good movie. Major theme, don't be bitter about the past. Think I should keep a couple copies on hand to give out to adults! LOL

Daryl was pleased with his pick and hopes to get to do family movie night again soon.

This morning I took him with me to get my eyebrows waxed. It is a necessary evil. We are sitting there waiting and this is how the conversation goes:
D-Why do you get your eyebrows smacked?
Me-You mean waxed. Because it makes them look nicer.
D-Do boys do that?
Me-Not really.
D-That is not really fair.
Me-Tell me about it!

A Tooth Doth Come Forth!

That is the fanciest post title I've every had. It is for a very fancy reason! I miss a lot of things with Alex that I didn't with Daryl. I haven't celebrated his month birthdays. I'm pretty sure I forgot to tell you all when he started sitting up and the first time he had baby food.
BUT, consider yourself the first to know, yesterday Alex cut his first tooth! I dropped him off at the sitter in the morning and no tooth, I picked him up at five and BAM, tooth!
I've started spinning the handy dyed wool I dyed at last year's Yarn School for the boys matching birthday sweaters. If all goes well they will be cute little cardigans. If things don't go well they will be vests. Sleeves depend on everything going smooth!!!!
