Awesome Day!

We had some surprise visitors at the Manor this weekend and we couldn't have been happier to have them.
The Brown family from Southwest Kansas came up to say hello and stay with us because Cadence had a gymnastics meet in Lawrence today. I got to go see her perform in her four events and she took 2nd place overall in her age division. I'm very proud!
I also got a lot of knitting done and FINISHED MY SHAWL!!!!! I'm so happy and if I can get my butt off the couch right now I will block it. Cedar was so kind to model it for me unblocked.
I also started spinning my Hello Yarn fiber in colorway sprout. It is a super soft squishy delight to spin. I had to spin during the KU vs. MU game to keep my blood pressure in check. But the Jayhawks ended the border war in winning fashion and sent the poor kitties home with a loss.
All in all great day. Although it was a little much for Daryl as you can tell!

Spinning Weekend

372 yds of heavy worsted
Had a really great weekend just staying around the house and working on some projects that had been neglected for awhile! That means I finally got my spin on and finished the three ply I had been dreaming about for quite some time.

I used my jumbo flyer for the first time and that was a learning experience. The jumbo flyer lets me make bigger skeins than my normal flyer. I spun the skein on the left with the jumbo flyer and the one on the right with my normal flyer. I was having to treadle so hard with my jumbo flyer  my wheel was scooting across the floor. But thanks to a friend in Illinois who has my same wheel I moved the height of the head and loosened the tension and things went better. Because it was taking so much effort to spin the 3-ply at first my yarn is a little thick in the beginning but got to be more of a worsted the easier the spinning got.

I'm pleased with the final result and would like to spin my new green fiber then have a big day of washing yarn in the near future!

Daryl had a good valentine's day at preschool. He got a lot of candy and lots of Valentines. His Valentine's had Iron Man on them as that is his new thing. He has been reading Iron Man books from the library and really enjoys them.

With his candy he got his first Fun Dip candy, I gladly showed him how to eat it and it was pretty funny!

Daryl's Weekend Out!

Daryl had a very fun weekend at Grandma Rosie's! He got to go help on Grandpa Richard's farm, play in the snow and go to a birthday party that had exotic animals!
He had a really great time but tonight he is really tired because of all of his big adventures. The whole Manor would like to wish Cedar a very happy 8th birthday! We would also like to wish Ms. Jaime a happy 29th birthday!
I still haven't started plying my yarn and I really need to get to that. Because someone has been ordering a lot of fiber and it has been showing up at the house this week! It is all so soft and pretty and squishy and I want to get it all on the wheel ASAP! :) My orange shawl is still going pretty good and I am about at the half way point of the project.

And Then...

And then there were three. Finally got that last single spun. Did it last night while watching the Jayhawks show Baylor how to play basketball! First half scary,  second half AWESOME.

There is a little more pink than I would like in the last single but I think it will be OK once plied with the others. I'm going to figure out how to get my big bobbin on the wheel and get going! I also need to knit like mad on the shawl.

Get Creative!

This is the new shawl I am trying to knit! Yay!!

This is how I keep track of how many rows I have knit.

Hehe, I like it, less obvious than when I write on the back of my hand. I just have to put on socks and no one knows I can't count to ten without help!
Funny D story, when I picked him up on Friday he was on the playground on all fours. As I got closer I realized he had a stick in his mouth, he was playing puppy!
