2023 Topcity Half Marathon

Yesterday was great weather and luckily race day for the Topcity Half Marathon! My goal was to run a sub 2:10 race and my official chip time was 2:08:53! The course was changed this year because of road construction but the new out and back route was enjoyable. The spectators were great this year! The course volunteers cheered loud and I got an applesauce pouch and twizzlers from new friends, aka nice strangers. Lol

My cousin came from Dodge City to run with me and she rocked it as well. That's two Dodge City cousin visits in one month! April 2023 was pretty awesome!

We are ready to go! I woke up 2 hours before race time, Kayleigh only needed 15 minutes. Lol
I'm not fast enough to run with this girl but she always has a post race beverage with me!

Yay Sports!

Daryl had his first track meet last Thursday and his second one today. He ran the 2 mile in both and is trying to pin down what his second event is. He did not like running the 2 mile and 1 mile in the same meet.

I got to watch him today and I was just beaming at him running. Running is my hobby and I'm not fast, but I enjoy it anyway. I hope he likes it because it is something you can do for a long time.

As a family we have also discovered Pickleball! My friend Danielle was the first person to show me how to play and my friend Jeff has been trying to teach me all the finer points of the game, aka the rules! LOL

Now I make the boys and Grandma go to the park and play with me and we are all getting better! The boys are almost getting too good because they are starting to be annoyed with Grandma and I being their partners. We even made our cousin play with us last night, she had to put her crocs in sport mode! LOL. You were really good Reiyna, now teach everyone in Dodge so we can play there too!

So if you need me this summer I'll either be running or playing pickleball. LOL

March 2023 Goal Check!

This spring like weather has me in a good mood! I have been able to run outside, I've been working in the yard, I feel motivated. I think April will be the month I will finish all the things. I'm in Spring cleaning mode and the boys have been hiding from me because they know I will give them a job. I'm also ready to get some house projects going. Ready to make some moves this month!

Read 24 Books: 5/24

I only got through one book this month. It was non fiction and full of lots of research so it read a little slower. However it was very good! All The Single Ladies by Rebecca Traister is a study on how unmarried women have shaped America and how they have been treated poorly all along the way. It is very thought provoking and will make you a little angry. However it also made me a little proud that independent women are a force to be reckoned with and always have been.

Run 760 Miles: 175/760

Got those long runs in this month and logged a total of 65 miles! Preparing for the Topeka Half Marathon at the end of April. Enjoyed running outside at the end of this month. I get so sick of the treadmill!

Money Goals:

  • Pay Mortg principle down 5K  made a principle only payment this month!
  • Replace Windows
  • Create Backyard Oasis
  • New Paint and Floors in my bedroom
  • New Garbage Disposal  Done Feb!

Trips: Stayed pretty close to home in March. I am starting to plan our family vacation to Texas in June, so I am really looking forward to that!

Finish/Work on a loose end every month Big plans for this in April! Sewing project in the basement...I see you....

We did make time for our favorite
Lawrence restaurant last weekend.
